👑 21 Crowns

Goal: be the first to climb from Duchess to King. You raise your rank by beating rival nobles in blackjack-like duels.

Ranks & Crowns

Each rank is a single number — both its Crown value and its weight in a fight: Duchess 2 · Prince 3 · Queen 4 · King 5.

Your rank is your total Crowns: 0–6 Duchess · 7–13 Prince · 14–20 Queen · 21+ King.

Your turn

Reveal a rival, then do one thing:

• Battle it with your current hand (up to 3 games of 21).
• Build Hand — skip the fight and draw Hit cards: 2 if you hold 0–1, otherwise 1 (max 4). Go over 4 and you discard down — that's your curation.

You see the rival first, so save your cards for the Queens and Kings and fight the Duchesses with whatever you hold.

The battle — best of 3

Get closest to 21 without going over. The rival is the "house": it draws to 17, then stops.

• Hit to draw from the deck (safe while your total is low), or click a hand card to play it as a finisher.
• The higher-ranked side adds a bonus equal to the rank difference (as high as it can without busting).
• Closest to 21 wins the round. Bust loses. Tie goes to the house.

Win two rounds to take the fight. You play two rounds per turn; a 1–1 split is settled on your next turn.

Win: capture the rival (its number is added to your Crowns), keep your unused cards, and draw an Ace.

Lose: your whole hand is wiped and you are Stalled — you skip your next turn.

Aces — draw 1 per victory

• ♠ Stall — make a rival skip their next turn.
• ♥ Hand — a free Build Hand, without spending your turn.
• ♣ Cancel — undo a Stall on you (from a loss or a Stall Ace).
• ♦ Disarm — a Duchess surrenders free: take its 2 Crowns, no fight.
• 🃏 Joker — a wild 5th card in a battle, played as any 2–9.

Winning the game

First to King wins — reach 21 Crowns and you win.

Last man standing — once a player is crowned King, players turn against each other, and the last one standing wins.
